Not Robin Hood

According to Variety, Universal Pictures has acquired a script from the creators of Sleeper Cell titled Nottingham. The script comes with Russell Crowe attached to star.In the film, penned by Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris, Crowe will play the Sheriff of Nottingham in a revisionist version of the Robin Hood story.The script is based on the premise that Robin Hood was less virtuous and the sheriff more noble than previously depicted. The story also involves a love triangle between Robin Hood, Maid Marion and Nottingham's sheriff.Crowe will receive $20 million against $20 million to star in the film and the screenwriters will get seven figures for the script.Shooting is expected to begin late 2007 or early 2008.
