BBC has reported that 8.2 million people tuned in to the third season premiere of Doctor Who, which was also the premiere episode featuring Freema Agyeman as the Doctor's new companion, Martha. The plot of the show featured disappearing hospitals, and a new villain was introduced, the Judoon. The series airs Saturdays on BBC One.
ITV1, the competition, has had a tough job of trying to up their viewing numbers against BBC's hit shows. They chose to air Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets against the Doctor Who premiere, and it brought in 4.7 million viewers
