Review: The Shakespeare Code

The Shakespeare Code hit its mark every moment throughout the telecast. The author Gareth Roberts seemed to do his study of Doctor Who history, hitting on a couple key notes from the original run of the show and keeping the feel of this episode steeped in Who mythology. Freema Agyeman continued to charm her way through the series, I’m sure it won’t take long for her to reach iconic companion status as she follows the Doctor along on his adventures. As for David Tennant, his portrayal of the Doctor seemed slightly toned down than in previous stories and was a refreshing side to his tenure of the intrepid Time-Lord. Without giving away any spoilers, I was surprised and delighted to the Harry Potter references in this episode. The Shakespeare Code should find its way in the most remembered of David Tennant’s Stories.
