Dutch producer John de Mol is bringing back British horror studio Hammer Film Productions.
De Mol has has acquired the rights to Hammer's library, home of roughly 300 titles. The titles include the famous Dracula series, which made actor Christopher Lee a household name, along with films such as The Curse of Frankenstein and The Mummy.
Los Angeles based Spitfire Pictures will team up with the "new" Hammer to produce two to three horror films or thrillers a year. The company will also look to produce TV shows -- Hammer Horror TV.
Hammer Films will rely on an investment of $50 million to start up production.
