Manhattan/ Evolution Review
Though I’ve never been a huge fan of Dalek stories, I’m more of a Cyberman fan, Daleks in Manhattan and Evolution of the Daleks stepped outside the box in ways Terry Nation could have never envision his creations going. Though not as well written as past Dalek stories, the two part season 3 (or 29 for old fans) stories were, though good, appeared to me to be weakest part of this season. Maybe it’s because Russell T. Davies thought he needed another Dalek story, to tell people this is still Doctor Who of old but with something new and hip. I’m not really sure and far be it for me to bash him for doing his job, but wouldn’t be better for him to use the vast resources of Doctor Who history to bring back some other classic monster like the Zygons or Ice Warriors? Perhaps they are waiting in the wings, but I would have enjoyed seeing them and know one or two others who might feel the same way. As for the Next Dalek story (and you know there will be another one) how about returning the Doctor to the planet Spiridon, where he finds the ten thousand Daleks he froze there now unthawed, that would be a good Dalek story.
