British newspapers are saying that Scottish actor James McAvoy has officially been confirmed as the new Scotty for the upcoming Star Trek XI motion picture. (Paramount has yet to confirm the news.) His best-known role for US audiences was as the faun Mr. Tumnus in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe.
While McAvoy never denied rumors that he was under consideration for the part, he did seem hesitant to accept it several months ago, saying "I love Star Trek
