New Hero

Variety reports that former VERONICA MARS star Kristen Bell is joining the cast of NBC's HEROES for a multiepisode arc. Bell was reportedly being sought for several TV gigs, including a part on ABC's LOST. Bell will make her first HEROES appearance in October. She'll play Elle, a character described as a sexy, mysterious young lady who has ties to the supposed death of Peter (Milo Ventimiglia), the past of H.R.G. (Jack Coleman) and the future of Claire (Hayden Panettiere). Elle will kick off her arc by committing a serious crime, although it's unclear whether she's good or bad. Bell co-stars in the Weinstein Co.'s upcoming Star Wars-themed movie FANBOYS.

Hiro

Masi Oka, who plays time-traveling hero Hiro Nakamura on HEROES, said in a recent interview that his character will remain in Japan for a while and will have a parallel story separate from the rest of the show when the second season kicks off in the fall. "Season two is going to begin with two parallel timelines going on," Oka said. "One starting four months after the explosion and another—mainly Hiro's storyline—starting 400 years in the past. And we'll see how they kind of affect each other." At the end of the hit show's first season, Oka's character found himself transported back in time to 16th-century Japan. According to Oka, Hiro will spend at least eight episodes there before returning to the present. There, he will encounter some of the characters from the stories of his childhood, including the legendary samurai Takezo Kensei, who will be played by David Anders (Sark from ABC's ALIAS). The show is currently finishing the third episode of the upcoming season. "There's a princess," Oka said. "Princess Iako, played by [Japanese pop star] Eriko Tamura, who's going to be in that world, as well as David Anders, who plays Takezo Kensei. That was Hiro's childhood hero that he's always heard about these stories. But David Anders, last time we checked, he was Caucasian. So there's a mystery there." HEROES returns for its second season on Sept. 24 and will air in its regular timeslot, Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Heroes DVD

The 7-disc DVD set for the TV hit SF series “Heroes” becomes available on August 28, 2007 with the inclusion of the never-before-aired 73 minute scenes producer/creator Tim Kring had to cut from the pilot episode. Bonus features include 5-featurettes and 50+ deleted scenes. It will be available in DVD and HD DVD formats with a S.R.P. of $59.98 (USD).

Origins

NBC has announced they are developing a spin-off of HEROES called HEROES: ORIGINS.
ORIGINS will center on characters not yet seen on the original show. NBC will ask viewers to pick their favorite character from HEROES: ORIGINS, who will then join the cast of HEROES the following year. Six episodes have been ordered.
The new show will air on Mondays in the same times slot as HEROES, when that show goes on hiatus.

It is being reported that Heroes season 1 will be coming to DVD on Aug 28, 2007. Man I can't wait.
